Academic > Goose Island House (2008) Families Studio Second year design award: Honorable Mention

As part of the re-development of Goose Island, we were asked to design a single-family home that is ideal for a small family. This house encompasses spatial ideas that are familiar to Chicago type housing, yet allows for each of the designated spaces to be connected to on large open space at the center of the home that also serves as vertical circulation. At that same time, this two thousand square foot home provides spaces that allow for family members to view one another at each floor, thus giving the interior of the house a sense of openness.
