New Harmony Nature Center (2007-2008) Skins Studio and Codes, Spects, Joints, and Seams
New Harmony, a small town situated on the southwestern corner of Indiana, has a history of being a center for discovery, innovation, and idealism. The town is positioned on a flood plane, close to the cornfields of Illinois, and on a fault line. By looking at all of these natural occurrences, the idea is to design a nature center that tells the natural history of New Harmony from the smallest insects to an entire ecosystem. The nature center allows visitors to experience an exhibition space open to the elements along with, a research facility, a library and a small retail space.
